Tired of being locked in for #ebooks?
I use an Onyx Boox. It's just an Android tablet with an e-paper display. But... Maybe you own a Kindle and can't afford a new device. Jailbreak it and run KOReader!
It's eaier than you think!

If you have an Android phone, you can even try out the KOreader app to see how you like it before yku go jailbreaking. KOreader.rocks
Just remember, LCD/OLED isn't the best experience for KOReader.
As for Onyx Boox... I love mine, but mine is from before they made Play Store installed out of the box. I don't want Google Play. But, you can run the Kindle and Nook apps to get your old proprietary library.
The nice part of KOReader is, I get that similar experience on every device I run it on, AND it has progress syncing for devices with network acceas. If I forgot my ereader at home, I can pick it up on my phone (Linux phone too!).
