I'm not sure I believe them about brain damage either, but I see no reason to think their subjects really were Autistic. Or human. Plus, nobody says, "causes," they say, "are associated with."

As long as medicine continues to see autism as a disorder, a mistaken deviation from the norm, people will continue to see it as a problem to be solved, rather than as a difference to be understood.

Autistic people are more vulnerable to a range of health issues, and the possibility that we could address this aspect of autism is actually encouraging. (Obviously we would also need to acknowledge that some of our health issues are indirect consequences of stress due to inadequate accommodations etc.) It would allow more autistic people to lead more fulfilling lives. But when autism itself is seen as a disorder to be fixed, as something to be understood in purely negative terms…

I know it’s wrong to evaluate people in terms of what contributions they make to society. But imagine how much more autistic people could do & be recognised as doing if we were seen as worth supporting & accommodating?

Of course the same could be said with regard to all human beings. Properly supporting and accommodating everyone’s needs and potential should be a goal of all societies and would benefit every individual and all communities. But is unlikely to happen, unless maybe if autistic people were in charge… Utopian thoughts.

The thing is, motorcycles and cars don’t have to be noisy. Even F1s aren’t as noisy as they used to be. The noise is all part of the compensatory effect of big/powerful vehicles.,

I don’t think all alpha males are sexist pricks. But the ones who like noisy motors/engines etc might be. You do have a point, but I suspect many women would appreciate a quiet but powerful vacuum cleaner.

I guess it depends on how you define alpha male. I knew one young man, a teacher and pretty rough country type (who could write beautiful prose & loved literature), who pretty much presented as an alpha type, but was never sexist, was respectful of women & girls, a great role model for male students in a fairly tough high school. Tough but fair. But admittedly not a typical alpha male.

my only tune by now, I’m obsessed that they market to fallacies when the world runs on evolution and we could be repairing these fallacies and errors. Sure they do, because that's the dominant paradigm. I firmly believe that if it were not, they'd be quite capable of handling other paradigms. That flexibility is one of humanity's strengths. It's also unfortunately a weakness.
