Sliding back into Mastodon for a bit. Got hit with New Twitter and seriously thought my browser was loading a mobile site. I know there's usually uproar around UI revamps, but honestly what were they thinking?

Either Twitter doesn't understand how people use it, or with mass adoption that use has changed for the majority of users.

I think it would be great to have text-focused tweets with minimal images in chronological feeds. And I guess that's why I fired up Mastodon again :)

I feel like CG effects and animation has opened up an unfortunate pandora's box. When the sky is the limit, it stifle's a unique kind of innovation. It keeps people from being scrappy and inventive and encourages just throwing "more" at eyeballs. You want a 100' tall Christmas tree with giant hand-made ornaments? You got it! You want a three-tiered city connected with toboggan runs? You got it! You want giant expanding shoes to walk from roof to roof? You got it!

I saw the new Grinch. It had a couple bright spots (Kenan Thompson's character, the story epilogue, the general look and feel), but wasn't great overall.

Serious and important plea: any US people here who have ordered medications from Canada, online or by mail/in person? Any pharmacies or resources to recommend? (I'd appreciate replies limited to helpful advice—thanks!)

Well Twitter ruined Again, I've not seen a website or service that seems to be working so hard to undermine what initially made it great.

Interested in hearing more about the Oculus Quest. I'm curious to see what ported Rift experiences end up like once they're optimized for a less powerful headset.

The B in Benoit B Mandelbrot stands for Benoit B Mandelbrot.

Today I discovered that Universal is building a new, from scratch Waterworld stunt show for their Beijing park. The show is also still at three other Universal parks and still going strong. 🤯

Check out this great piece of classic Portland design from the 60s.

My dad makes and smokes his own sausage, and there is no good way to phrase this so it doesn't invite chuckles, nor can I offer "my dad's sausage" to friends without it sounding lascivious.

The gold, souped-up version of Apple's $1000 iPhone is called the iPhone XS?

The optics on that one are just 👌

Incredible. The Insomniac Games social manager deserves a medal for these responses.

The amount of geese in my timeline really has skyrocketed today! 😂

It's weird to me that BuzzFeed keeps trying to make such a push into journalism. I've seen some shockingly good articles and reports come from BuzzFeed News, but at the end of the day they're still attached to BuzzFeed. That seems like quite an uphill battle when your main site is pushing "Tell Us Which Kardashian You Like and We'll Tell You What Sandwhich You'll Eat for Lunch."

Saw this floating around on the bird and thought it was a really interesting comparison, which reminded me of the on-going Kirby box art comparison.

What is going on over at Twitter? Killing off the Mac desktop client. Hampering functionality of third party apps (or maybe outright killing them). I just realized I can bookmark things on mobile, but can't access them via web? Geez.

Anyone know a color-blind designer/AD/CD? Got a comment on a post from someone who gave up on design after discovering they're colorblind. Any awesome color-blind designers I could point him towards?
