Just realized when the #electrician installed our new panel, the first thing the grounding line is firmly connected to is a completely isolated stretch of metal pipe. So if something goes terribly wrong in a few places, we could theoretically end up with a 200 amp kitchen sink faucet. Lovely.
@mikemccaffrey OK, that's scary.
@mikemccaffrey What the actual hell?
@rlounsbury The same wire is also clamped to the metal water line coming out of the ground and into the house 20 feet later, and the chances of the wire being somehow cut between the two is very unlikely (the only thing I could see is some other contractor cutting it to get it out of the way), so it is more a question of why they bothered clamping it here at all.
