Summer is over, so time to drain, dismantle, and put away the swimming pool for the winter.

Oh great, now my old iMac is kernel panicking repeatedly on startup. I’ve shut it down for the night. It’s a 2011 model, that I just use as a second screen, so not worth repairing if it is a hardware issue (again).

Since I just got my new iPhone XS Max, for this week I thought I’d compare it to my old Apple Newton, Palm V, and my first iPhone, the 3G.

At the feed store, getting chicken & bird food.

On the Dejus YouTube channel: Feral cat breakfast; a short crudely cut-together video from three camera views of a couple of our feral cats reacting to the food being dispensed, and going to eat breakfast. youtu.be/kYJ9ppD63SI

My shiny new iPhone XS Max, in gold. It’s a very subtle color, quite nice. Yay for the iPhone Upgrade Program; this is a minor update on my iPhone X, but I like the bigger screen and better camera.

Getting lots of roma and cherry tomatoes recently. Some for me (for burgers and sandwiches), some for the chickens (to turn into eggs).

Oh, and speaking of old things, nobody cares but me, and I don’t care all that much, but today is the 27th anniversary of founding my macOS & iOS development company, @Dejal. Back in 1991, I wrote utilities for Mac System 5 and later. dejal.com/classic/

Since I released Dejal Simon 4.3 yesterday, and posted a screenshot, it seems appropriate that the post this week be of Simon 2.3 from 2007, running on my old MacBook.

In case you missed it: take Dejal Simon 4.3 to the dark side on Mojave.

On the homestead blog: I wrote an article that appeared in the October/November 2018 issue of Backyard Poultry magazine, describing the chicken coop I designed and built last year. yellowcottagehomestead.com/201

So far I’ve resisted installing iOS 12 on my iPhone X, since my shiny new iPhone XS Max will arrive on Friday. A new OS will make the S-year phone more special. Plus just seems kinda pointless hassle; I can wait a few days.

It does mean that I have to wait for watchOS 5 too… but I can live with that. (So far I’m resisting upgrading my Watch… but I may eventually cave on that, since I keep reading & hearing how much of an improvement the new one is.)
