We’re cleaning out what had become our “junk room” to turn it into our niece’s bedroom. Apparently some CD jewel cases had fallen behind the desk and into the baseboard heater and created some impromptu modern art.
I call it “the illusion of persistence of data in a universe ruled by thermodynamics”.
My partner calls it “thank god we didn’t catch fire”.
@a this reminds me of the foundation series. When looking through the historical records, those that were not commonly accessed were just noise. Look back long enough and all you see is noise.
@a
I would say it was serendipitously brilliant.
@a I'm just like, how hot are those things?! I'm trying to work out if that would ever happen with our radiators...
@sarajw I am assured that these things don’t hit ignition temperature on any common materials, but I’ve also seen CD cases melt just from being left in a car. I would not be overly concerned.
@a I absolutely want to see this in a museum.
@a amazing info cards! XD
