CSA, Power Dynamics
The thing about arguing, "actually it's not TECHnically pedophilia" is that a) most of the time it's coming from dudes who want an excuse to fuck underage girls and that b) when it isn't, it offers little to the discourse.
Are there differences between pedophilia and statutory rape? Sure? But... so what? When it comes to someone like Epstein, he was a billionaire who flew other rich and powerful men around on a plane so they could fuck minors.
It's not just about harm, it's about understanding that the nature of power dynamics means that we need to restrict certain behaviors, even if it's not ALWAYS in EVERY INSTANCE harmful.
Take a less contentious example: An employer and employee in a relationship.
I see the racist, misogynist "we just want to point out how easy it is to spam on Mastodon" concern trolls are back in action. (If they link to a site called "women are stupid", that's them.)
Remember: don't engage them. Report them, pass the report through to the remote instance if need be, block them, and move on.
The Chernobyl series had the very unfortunate and unintended effect of making people think nuclear energy isn't safe.
Nuclear energy is cheap, it's the safest energy source available, there are no emissions.
Coal plants emit more radiation. The nuclear waste can be dealt with, and is not a big deal.
Also, a possible problem that might kill a couple thousand people in a thousand years is much less of a problem than the millions that die and will die due to more carbon and pollution in the air.
cooking, food, boyfriend
There is no better party than a boyfriend-cooking-you-food-and-you-get-to-pick-the-music-party. @benaiah is doing a great job tonight!
My name is Emily. I have a pug. I live in Portland. And I hope you have a wonderful day.
